Job Description Summary A Ph.D. graduate assistant position with full financial support is available in Fall 2025 at the DII lab at Penn State University. The admitted students are expected to work in artificial intelligence in design and construction, including but not limited to building information modeling, building energy modeling, geospatial analysis, computer vision, machine learning, sensing, and network modeling.
Qualifications Ideal candidates will have the following attributes:
Background in mechanical engineering, building system analysis, energy modeling, and optimization. Knowledge of Building Information Modeling and Geographic Information System. Prior experience in data science and network analysis. Prior experience with Dynamo, ArcGIS, Python, or any other coding language. Interest in urban energy modeling. Applicants with a B.S. or M.S. in Architecture Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Other majors can also be considered if the applicant has a strong interest or motivation.
