Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Care Network, as a Phlebotomist at our River East clinic.
This position is a 100% onsite opportunity.
You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus up to $1,500! In this role, a Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood from outpatients under minimal supervision.
Includes patient and order verification, generation of specimen collection labels, and instruction for random urine collection. Essential Job Functions Performs venipuncture and skin punctures with expertise and in a customer service oriented fashion, adhering to all established policies and proceduresConducts on-site laboratory tests on specimens as requiredProperly prepares, labels and packages specimens for delivery through pneumatic tube systemStocks blood drawing area and inventories supplies for reorderingCleans/sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control proceduresAdministers glucose tolerance tests and schedules subsequent draws according to dosage timesProvides accurate collection instructions for random urine specimens and process according to policies Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalentTraining in phlebotomy from an accredited program; 3-4 years of practical experience with referencesThorough knowledge of asepsis; manual dexterity and accuracyAbility to follow directions and established procedures with attention to detailDemonstrate ability to utilize institutional computer systemsDemonstrate ability to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare workersExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to complete tasks with accuracy and document appropriately, perform in stressful situations; handle large volumes of patients within narrow timeframes (up to 75-100 patients per day)Ability to stand, stoop, push, lift and walk distances up to 6 city blocks in length, and ability to adapt to rapidly changing environmentCurrent CPR certificate.Preferred Qualifications American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certificationCertification as medical assistantNational certification through American Medical Technologists as a registered phlebotomy technician Position Details Job Type/FTE: Full-Time 1.0 FTEShift: Days 9:30am-6pmWork Location: Onsite - River EastUnit/Department: LabsCBA Code: Non-UnionIn this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week.
We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the day shift, between the hours of 8:30am-6:00pm and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts.
We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the River East Clinic. The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday through Friday.
