Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description
As a Phlebotomist II, you will perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and handle decontamination.
You will update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
You will clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections as required.
Demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles, you must fully understand all physicians' orders.
You will match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
You will also check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy, package specimens for transport, and store specimen samples according to required temperature and protocols to maintain integrity.
Additional responsibilities include attending annual department trainings and answering telephone calls to read laboratory results and satisfy inquiries.
