THE ROLE: Short Term/Full Time Photo Assistant A Short Term/Full Time Photo Assistant who will work closely with the production team in the studio and on location. Primary duties will be assisting with equipment, lighting, grip, sets, tethered capture, and packing for location. Secondary duties will be maintaining studio organization, cleanliness, and other various tasks. You will work with the latest in retail photography in a strong, team-oriented environment.
This position is working onsite at our Boston, MA location approximately 30 hours per week, sometimes more depending on volume. Anticipated working days fall between Monday through Friday.
What You'll Do: Assist Photographers on set both in studio and on location to create strong editorial imagery for Rue La La and Gilt boutiques. Overall setup and breakdown of daily sets. Support studio producer in creating style viewers for each boutique to enable us to capture metadata. Various set tasks include putting up and taking down backdrops and flooring, lighting setup, collaborating with art directors, etc. Partner with producer, photographer, and stylist to ensure metadata is accurate for each product being photographed on set. Support studio team with prop creation including painting, organizing, purchasing etc. Assist with tracking and organization of all equipment and props. Assist styling and studio ops team with various tasks including steaming/prepping merchandise and other tasks as needed. Learn what it takes to make the magic happen! About You: 1+ years of photography experience or photography education background. Photo assistant experience preferred. Experience with Profoto lighting, Canon camera systems, and Capture One Pro. Understanding of Grip equipment (stands, clamps, booms, scrims, etc). Must be a self-starter, with a strong sense of teamwork in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment. Excellent organization and communication skills required. Must have a great attitude and a passion for the creative environment. Portfolio a plus. Lifting will be involved. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Able to stand for up to approximately 8 hours.
