Job Description
Creating Opportunities for Physical Activity (COPA) is a physical activity and nutrition initiative in seven K-5 elementary schools in Wilmington, CA.
COPA works to build a culture of daily physical activity and healthy eating on school campuses and in the surrounding community using a peer coach model.
The peer coach model differs from direct service in that all activities are conducted with a focus on training others on how to perform the functions to ensure long-term sustainability.
The PE Assistant is responsible for assisting PE Instructors in delivering a physical activity-based psychomotor program for K-5th grade.
The PE Assistant works with 20-35 students at a physical activity station for 10 minutes and then rotates the students to the next station.
Station activities can include tag games, jump roping, cooperative games, skill development activities, etc.

Required Qualifications: Coursework/Training: At least 6 months of college. 6 months of experience working with groups of children.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in elementary school setting. Experience engaging groups of children in physical activity
games and programming.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
