Performs all duties required of the department and cooperates with the Medical and Hospital staff according to the standards of the department.A Physical Therapist must maintain a current physical therapist license.
Qualifications based on education and experience in the field of physical therapy.
Assist in directing treatment plans and rehabilitative programs in accordance with the diagnosis and prognosis.
Treatment plans and programs will be established to prevent or minimize disability or pain and to restore lost function.
Therapeutic interventions utilized will focus on (but not be excluded to) locomotion, posture, strength, endurance, cardiopulmonary function, balance, coordination joint mobility, flexibility, pain reduction, and application of modalities that include but need not be limited to light, air, water, sound electricity, massage, mobilization, bronchopulmonary hygiene, wound care, and therapeutic exercise with or without assistive device(s).Must demonstrate ability to prescribe, instruct and guide therapeutic procedures including exercises for strengthening, endurance, coordination and range of motion.Must demonstrate ability to perform application of stimuli to facilitate motor-activity and learning.Must demonstrate ability to give instruction in activities of daily living and the use of assistive devices.Must demonstrate ability to perform application of modalities and physical agents to relieve pain or alter physiological status.Must be able to properly perform wound care as physician orders.Must demonstrate an understanding of application of ICD-9 diagnosis codes.Must demonstrate a working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations and application of RUGS levels in the long term care setting.Consults, interacts, and practices in collaboration with a variety of professionals including (but not limited to) physicians, dentists, nurses, educators, social workers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and audiologists to help the patient reach their maximum functional potential.Must be able to perform in the following areas: Moist heat application, paraffin, cold therapy application, water therapy, traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, wound care, iontophoresis, diathermy, massage, traction, biofeedback and instruct/assist in exercise program.Must manipulate, demonstrate and apply various equipment: isokinetic exercise machine, CPM machine, ergometer, traction, pulleys and free weights.Must manipulate, demonstrate and instruct the use of crutches, walkers and canes of various types.RELATED FUNCTIONS:Entering appropriate service charges into the computer.Compiling and reporting revenue, procedure and charge statistics as required.Filing and compiling new patient charts, updating attendance calendar in timely manner, and scheduling patients.REQUIREMENTS:Education/Training/Experience: Must be a graduate of a curriculum physical therapy approved by the American Physical Therapy Association in collaboration with the council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association.Licensure/Certification: Must fulfill requirements of State of Georgia as outlined by The State Board of Physical Therapy for licensing, certification and registration.
Must present current Georgia License.
Must maintain CPR certification.Interpersonal Skills: Relates cooperatively and constructively with all patients, guests, families, physicians, peers, and all healthcare members as well as anyone that JHS' employees interact with while performing their daily duties.Essential Physical Requirements: Moderate to high amount of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, and kneeling.
Minimal lifting requirements of fifty (50) pounds.Verbal and/or Written Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.Essential Mental Requirements: Knowledgeable and competent to perform essential functions.
Must be able to deal with a variety of personalities with whom the employer comes into contact with, both pleasant and irate.
Must demonstrate excellent judgment in resolving operations, and patient care issues within the department.Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Moderate eye-hand coordination.
Keyboarding skills preferred.Essential Sensory Requirements: Ability to visually and audibly perform all essential functions.Exposure to Hazards: Minimal exposure to infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids.Other: Assume responsibility for professional growth and expertise, as well as continuing education.Performance:1.Must meet minimum requirements of the performance standards outlined in the criteria based evaluation form.
