Responsibilities of a Physical Therapy Assistant:
Prepare engaging exercises and activities to use during physical therapy sessions with patientsProvide counseling and consultations for new patients, their family members and caregiversFollows goals and objectives for patients set by the physical therapist to work toward and identify areas of progress and challengesAssist physical therapists in direct patient care according to their respective plans of care.Prepare equipment ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followedReview the patient's file prior to their appointment and have a clear understanding of the challenge to be addressedComplete required documentation in a reasonable timely mannerQualifications of a Physical Therapy Assistant:
Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of TexasProficient in computer software commonly used for documentation and report preparationDemonstrates knowledge and adherence to HIPAA legislation and other patient privacy lawsExperienced in working with sensitive and personal patient records and informationPhysical endurance and the ability to work primarily in a standing position and lift at least 50 lbsDemonstrates a friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, family members, or other staff membersAbility to work with patients and family members with different types of personalitiesAccountability and attention to detail is essential when handling and documenting important medical information
