PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary role of the Emergency Department Physician Assistant will be to provide direct care management of Emergency Department (ED) patients in collaboration with the ED attending physician(s) and other members of a multidisciplinary ED team. This position is specifically to improve care for patients being evaluated and treated in the ED.

As a Physician Assistant, you are delegated the authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Diagnose and Treat acute and chronic IllnessPerform age-appropriate history and physicalOrder and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needsPrescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments to patient's age specific needMonitor the effectiveness of treatmentsProvide education of acute and chronic medical conditionsManaging Chronic Medical ConditionsReconciling medication listFacilitating appointments to specialistProviding thorough exams and evaluations of patient's health statusFacilitate appropriate chronic care management (i.e. Diabetic eye exams, foot exams and nutritional counseling)Preventive MedicineKeeping track of and referring patient to appropriate preventive medical screenings (e.g. Mammograms and Colonoscopies)Counseling and reinforcing patients in healthy lifestyle habitsEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Physician Assistant certification
• Massachusetts license
• ACLS Certificate
• MCSR (Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration)
EXPERIENCE:
• Proficient Computer Skills (MS Word)
• EMR experience required
• Ability to document in electronic health record completely and accurately
• Knowledge of clinical reminders and how to use them appropriately
• Good communication skills, both spoken and written
• Willing and able to work in a team environment
• Able to change with the ever evolving healthcare field
