Job Overview: Under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Physician, the Physician Assistant provides healthcare services to patients.
Required Qualifications: Graduated from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and a New Jersey License from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Advisory Committee.Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/ Physician Assistant Advisory Committee.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification.Scheduling Requirements: Full-time40 hours per weekEssential Functions: Examine patients and perform comprehensive physical examinations, compiling medical data, including health history and results of physical examinations.Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests, and interpret test results for deviations from normal.Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and managing infections.Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in provisions of continuity of care.Work with physicians to help triage and navigate patients safely and efficiently for their procedures.Assist the physician in following up on test results such as pathology or radiology, and communicate results with patients and their families.May be required to assist in seeing patients in the hospital on inpatient service or to support the inpatient advanced practice provider team.Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.In conjunction with the medical staff, develop and maintain all requirements related to regulatory agencies of local, state, and federal governments.Understand and adhere to Rutgers's compliance standards as outlined in Rutgers Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.Stay abreast of all federal, state, and Rutgers regulations, laws, and policies as they exist and as they change or are modified.Work seamlessly with other advanced providers as part of the advanced endoscopy team to support the practice as a whole.Perform other duties as assigned.
