Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant - Full Time Days 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM Flexible Shifts/Rotating Weekends - OR - NS. In this role, the successful candidate will practice medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician fulfilling a broad range of medical services that would otherwise be provided by the physician. The PA shall be permitted to provide any service within his/her scope of training/skills delegated by the supervising physician or the patient's physician that has been approved by the Credentials Committee and is within the scope of practice of the physician.
Job Responsibilities: Introduces/identifies self as a physician assistant.Performs initial assessment/history and physical examination.Orders and interprets tests/results (lab, radiology, EKG, etc.) based on patient need.Documents care in the chart in accordance with Hospital policy & procedure.Formulates and implements treatment plan.Consults with physician when required based on patient's condition.Reassesses patients.Orders, applies, removes, and reapplies restraints.Provides emergency medical care including Code 64 management.Triage patients in the Emergency Department.Performs trauma assessment/reassessment (Trauma Team only).Legibly documents in patient chart and departmental forms all pertinent patient information following departmental and Hospital policies.Documents any patient or family education on the Hospital patient and family education form.Ensures all orders and entries are dated and timed.Completes procedure notes.Documents follow up/consultation with physician.Completes billing forms fully and submits.Writes and gives discharge instructions (ED only).Explains procedures to patient/family.Performs procedures following accepted standards of care (IVs, foley catheters, NGT, CVL removal, etc.).Assists in surgery (credentialed only).Performs CAT scan/MRI injections.Demonstrates positive Service Excellence/customer satisfaction, effective time management, and communication skills.Maintains knowledge of current trends and techniques in the field by reading appropriate journals and attending related seminars.Abides by all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.Participates in performance assessment and improvement studies.Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a PA program accredited by The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant or its predecessor. Current NCCPA certification. Current New York State license as Registered Physician Assistant. Current BLS and ACLS documentation from AHA only. Current Pediatric Life Support (PALS) from AHA only. Requires psychomotor skills including walking to perform examinations and procedures. The interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, physicians, nursing, and other Hospital personnel.

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $131,683.50 - $164,151.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
