Physician Assistant - Primary Care

Job Summary This Physician Assistant position is within the Primary Care Service line, and is located at the Togus VAMC.
This position is a full-time at 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Major Duties Obtaining medical histories and performing physical examinations on inpatients and outpatients.Admitting and discharging patients in consultation with, and on behalf of, the collaborating physician.Carrying out health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education activities.Dictating discharge summaries.
The collaborating physician must countersign the discharge summary.Making daily rounds to observe and record each patient's medical progress, updating and summarizing medical records, changing orders when appropriate and notifying the responsible physician of significant changes in the patient's condition.Administrative duties such as Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) Teamlet Leaders, clinic or program managers or other administrative or management duties.Education of health profession trainees and students.Participate in clinical research.Preventive Medicine programs and related duties.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) in accordance with ACLS protocols, to include defibrillation and cardioversion, if the PA has current documentation of successful ACLS course completion.Minimum Requirements Must be proficient in written and spoken English.Must pass pre-employment physical examination.Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).How to Apply All applicants are encouraged to apply online.
