This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement.
Basic Requirements:United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Residency Training: Must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.Proficiency in spoken and written English.Board Certified in Internal or Family Medicine.Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology.Preferred Experience:Possess four (4) years of experience working in inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
Physical Requirements:Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position.
Responsibilities:The Physician - Cardiologist provides independent care delivery and specialty consultation for chronic and acute medical needs. Responsibilities include:
Provide direct patient care including history and physicals, medication management, evaluation of diagnostic tests, and treatment planning.Perform minor procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiogram and Elective Cardioversion.Participate in Cardiology Section meetings.Report/document results of ECGs, Echos, Holters, Stress Tests in a timely manner.Work Schedule:8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
