Summa Health is seeking an Internal Medicine physician to join our employed physician group. The selected candidate will become a member of Summa Health Medical Group, a multi-specialty group practice of 400+ physicians. Summa is one of the largest integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems in the state. With 2 hospitals, over 20 health centers, an employed multi-specialty physician provider organization, an Accountable Care Organization, and a health insurance company, Summa Health provides access to care throughout the entire region of Northeast Ohio. The selected candidate will work in our Akron Campus Internal Medicine Residency Program. Our program is affiliated with Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUHCOM). Applicants with prior experience in academic internal medicine, PGY 4 Chief Resident, and/or completion of a General Internal Medicine fellowship program are preferred. There is a longstanding and exceedingly strong commitment to medical education that continues to permeate the Summa Health- Akron Campus institution dating back to the early 20th century. There are 773 beds at Summa Health - Akron Campus, which is our primary Internal Medicine training site. The Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at Summa Health was a member of the ACGME Educational Innovation Project 2006-16 and continues to innovate in medical education. Our residency class has recently expanded to 20 per year with a total approved complement of 66 residents (including Preliminary Medicine). 30% of our graduates in the last 5 years have made presentations at national meetings during their residency. Approximately 30% of our graduates practice ambulatory IM or combined ambulatory and hospital IM, 35% are hospitalists and 35% enter fellowships. Subspecialty Internal Medicine fellowships include Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Geriatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Critical Care – converting to Pulmonary Critical Care in July 2024.
