Major DutiesThe duties include but are not limited to: Evaluations/Consultations in diagnosing and treating skin disorders and diseases.Provide comprehensive direct patient care in the ambulatory dermatology setting, including evaluation/consultation, examination, diagnosis, follow-up, medical record documentation/record-keeping and correspondence surgical procedures including staffing resident clinics.Interprets and evaluates clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status.Participate in electronic consultations (e-consult) to improve access to dermatology care.Participate in tele-dermatology and virtual video connect visits.Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedures; recognizes and assesses changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and other pertinent facts about the patient and modifies plan of treatment when indicated.Order diagnostic tests and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.Perform minor procedures such as biopsies, shave biopsies, simple excisions, cryotherapy and intralesional injections.Develops and maintains rapport and gains the confidence of patients and relatives through competence and interpersonal skills.Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members.Ensures that the practice of medicine is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education, and HIPPA policies.EducationDegree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
