Job Description: The duties include but are not limited to:
Evaluations/Consultations in diagnosing and treating skin disorders and diseases.Provide comprehensive direct patient care in the ambulatory dermatology setting, including evaluation/consultation, examination, diagnosis, follow-up, medical record documentation/record-keeping and correspondence.Perform surgical procedures including staffing resident clinics.Interprets and evaluates clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status.Participate in electronic consultations (e-consult) to improve access to dermatology care.Participate in tele-dermatology and virtual video connect visits.Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedures; recognizes and assesses changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and other pertinent facts about the patient and modifies plan of treatment when indicated.Order diagnostic tests and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.Perform minor procedures such as biopsies, shave biopsies, simple excisions, cryotherapy and intralesional injections.Develops and maintains rapport and gains the confidence of patients and relatives through competence and interpersonal skills.Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences.Documentation of care in the medical record in keeping with the bylaws of the Medical Center.Actively involved in the education of other providers and staff.Provide supervisory oversight of the clinical care on the inpatient service and ambulatory clinic of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as appropriate.Ensures that the practice of medicine is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes and regulations.Perform administrative and other tasks as assigned by the Department Chief/ Manager.Work in compliance with all VHA prevention guidelines, patient safety goals and initiatives; and accreditation requirements.Ensure that all encounters are completed in a timely manner and consults are scheduled as appropriate.Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 08:00am - 4:30pm
Compensation and Benefits: Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year.Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care.Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification).Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
