Physician - Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine/Family Medicine - Metropolitan Detention CenterUNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine Physicians for the Metropolitan Detention Center. This opportunity is a full-time (1.0FTE) or part-time (minimum 0.4FTE) position located in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Metropolitan Detention Center. Summary: The University of New Mexico is seeking staff physicians to serve either full-time or part-time as providers at the MDC. Providers have the opportunity to impact care at the MDC in accordance with nationally recognized standards of care. Physicians at the MDC will provide direct patient care in the chronic care clinic, acute care setting, or the newly created addiction medicine clinic. Providers will participate in CQI, Morbidity and Mortality review, clinical practice guidelines, policy and procedures, and compliance initiatives related to the McClendon court ordered decree. Physicians report directly to the Associate CMO of the MDC.
Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an accredited medical school.Fully licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.Current DEA registration.Current BLS/ACLS.Board certified or board eligible in primary care specialty (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine).Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirement.Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.Personal and professional alignment with the values of the Department and the UNM School of Medicine.Duties and Responsibilities: Provide on-call services if full-time.Participate in the review and approval of clinical protocols, policies and procedures, and medical disaster plan.Participate in on-site quality improvement programs.Participate in screening and interviewing of healthcare providers.Participate in in-service training classes.Attend medical, clinical and other meetings, as required.Document all encounters in patient's Medical Record. Ensure all documentation is completed within 24 hours, timed, legible and signed. Ensure all verbal or telephone orders are countersigned as required.Participate in onboarding new providers and nursing staff.Attend Medical Staff meetings as required.Participate in in-service education of staff as requested.Participate in monthly review of quality of care and chart reviews as requested.Participate in all quality improvement measures including sentinel event review.Participate in the Utilization Review process and follow proper procedures.Provide typical community standard care based on evidenced based medicine for clinical services required including but not limited to sick call, chronic care, health assessments, and acute care needs. When applicable, visit the infirmary daily and document encounters in patient's Medical Record as assigned. The goal is to provide the right care, at the right time, and at the right location in compliance with national standards and the McClendon Agreement.Provide emergency treatment on-site and respond appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.Adhere to approved formulary for therapeutic regimens before utilizing non-formulary procedure.Utilize available in-house resource personnel for treatment or resolution of identified problems before utilizing off-site referral.Demonstrate proper technique for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and related drug therapy with certification as required by credentialing.Support standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures. Serve as a resource to other professional or non-professional personnel providing instructions as needed.Collaborate with the security/correctional officer team for inmates requiring care offsite, clinical seclusion, and patient care concerns.About UNM Medical Group, Inc.
