The providers at Gastroenterology Digestive Health Services - Lexington offer a full range of primary care services for children, treats many digestive conditions affecting the esophagus, gallbladder, intestines and other parts of the digestive system. Outpatient endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures are offered at Gastroenterology Lexington, a service of Lexington Medical Center.
Common digestive condition symptoms include: Severe abdominal pain Nausea or vomiting Chest pain or burning in chest or throat Acid reflux Dry cough or sore throat Outpatient procedures at Lexington Medical Center: Colonoscopy: an examination of the colon using a soft, flexible fiber-optic instrument through which biopsies and polyp removal can also be performed. EGD (Upper Endoscopy): This procedure uses a soft, flexible fiber-optic instrument to examine the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum; a number of therapies can be performed with this instrument as well. Sigmoidoscopy uses a flexible, fiber-optic tube to examine limited portions of the lower colon. Physician Requirements: Graduation from an accredited medical school as a M.D./D.O. Successful completion of residency at an accredited healthcare institution. Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License as a current M.D./D.O. Board certification in primary care or related field from said residency. Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing required.
