Description
This position is primarily responsible for helping patients during all stages of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
An Oncologist specializes in diagnosing, treating, and studying all forms of cancer and cancerous tumors.
Many practicing oncologists divide their time between research and study and direct patient care.
In addition to helping patients with treatable forms of cancer, they are also called upon to care for terminally ill cancer patients by providing treatments and medications to ease pain during the disease's final stages.
Schedule: 2-3 days a week
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Consulting with patients and their referring physicians to determine treatment plans that have been attempted in the patient's history.
Completing examinations including physical exams, biopsies, fluid and tissue samples, and x-rays.
Discussing treatment options with patients including both surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
Completing all case and chart notes including treatment plans and test results.
Attending trainings, workshops, and conferences to keep informed of the latest cancer treatment methods and options.
Working with other medical professionals as part of the patient's treatment team.
Attending any mandatory meetings.
Being available for on-call.
Available to work certain weekends.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Doctoral or professional degree.
4-5 years of experience in the medical field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to understand oncology medical coding.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
