Pilot Plant Operator / Technician This is a temp-to-perm position and comes with OT potential and a positive work environment within an extremely stable company in the chemical manufacturing space.
This will be a night shift role.

SUMMARY:
The Pilot Plant Operator is responsible for starting up, shutting down, and maintaining steady operation of the R&D Pilot Plant on their specific shift.
JOB DUTIES:
- Safely and effectively operate a connected, continuous-operation production unit.
- Start-up, shut-down, and maintain operation equipment; including but not limited to diaphragm compressors, pumps, electric heaters, etc.
- Perform daily checks of system and operating conditions to ensure all equipment and instrumentation are both working correctly and operating in the designated parameters.
Make appropriate adjustments in response to process conditions and trends in operating data.
- Identify process upsets and locating root cause
- Ensure proper operation (flows, temperatures, gas supplies, etc.)
of analytical equipment, including mass spectrometers, gas chromatographs, paramagnetic analyzers, and LEL sensors.
- Safely take samples of both liquid and gaseous process streams for laboratory analysis.
- Monitor, maintain, and receive stocks of consumables, including but not limited to: gas cylinders, de-ionization resin beds, and bulk gas trailers
- Maintain process lines and equipment during operation and turnarounds.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and maintain inventories or required materials
- Review operation, equipment, and procedures and make suggestions for improvement.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
- Minimum of two years process manufacturing experience in a continuous-process operation (any pilot scale / pilot plant experience is a big plus)
- Chemical plant experience is a nice plus, although not necessarily a requirement.
- Good mechanical aptitude; capability to contribute in hands-on activities as necessary.
- Candidates must be comfortable working the overnight shift.
- Ability to recognize process upsets, sources, and adjust parameters to correct.
- Ability to analyze process trends and suggest appropriate control moves; process equipment includes pumps, compressors, flow controllers, and heaters.
- Good understanding of piping and instrumentation diagrams and ability to read mechanical drawings is a plus
