Responsibilities
• Responding to inquiries from Police Officers and law enforcement personnel by accessing and manipulating criminal and police records information• Operating computer terminals and related equipment for data entry• Verifying and correcting data entry errors• Referring to reference materials accurately and in a timely manner• Handling sensitive or confidential material with discretion and independent judgment• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED certificate• One year of experience in operating computer terminals for data entry• Completion of a two-day Maryland State training course in the automated National Crime Information Center System within the first six months of employment• Knowledge of computerized data entry principles and practices• Knowledge of the automated National Crime Information Center, Maryland Electronic Telecommunications Enforcement Resource System (METERS), and other systems used in the Baltimore Police Department• Ability to verify and correct data entry errors• Ability to refer to multiple reference materials accurately and in a timely manner• Ability to handle sensitive or confidential material with discretion and independent judgment• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
