Complete the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) personal history form and the El Mirage Police Department background packet, with all supporting documents.
Attend a Peace Officer Physical Aptitude Test (POPAT) screening, which consists of the following: 99-yard obstacle course (sharp turns, curb-height obstacles, and a 34-inch high obstacle that must be vaulted).Body Drag (lift and drag 165-pound lifelike dummy for 32 feet).Chain-link fence (run five yards to a chain-link fence, climb over, and continue to run 25 yards).
