A post-doctoral position is available for a highly motivated individual with a background in biochemistry, cell and/or molecular biology. We are interested in understanding the properties of oncoproteins that drive cancer cell growth and their regulatory mechanisms. To answer these questions, we utilize small molecule inhibitors coupled with biochemical, proteomic, genetic/genomic approaches in cell line and/or xenograft model systems. We aim to provide insight into the fundamental processes that govern tumor biology and to identify therapeutic interventions that will prolong survival and improve the quality of life in patients with cancer.
Essential functions include:
* Data collection, analysis and modeling research tasks.
* Develop and test experimental designs, sampling techniques, analytical methods, and make recommendations for their utilization; participate and take leadership roles in the development of the goals of new research projects and in the planning of laboratory work.
* Assist in writing papers for journal submission, participating in conferences and helping with student mentoring.
Minimum Required Qualifications
PhD and/or MD and a demonstrated record of outstanding technical and analytical skills in standard laboratory techniques. Expertise must be evident in at least one first-author paper published (or accepted) in a well-reputed journal. Enthusiasm for science, an ability to work independently to produce high-quality data and being an inquisitive scientist are imperative.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in various molecular and biochemical analysis (Westernblot, microscopy, facs, cloning, mammalian cell culture, handling mice); experience and handling "omics" data analysis; understanding of small molecule inhibitors.
Work Conditions
Animal handling or willing to work with laboratory animal models.
