Postdoc, Organic Chemistry University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF07806 The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated synthetic organic chemist ready to function in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Applicants should have exceptional communication skills coupled with a strong publication record. Previous experience in fluorine chemistry, organometallic chemistry and multistep synthesis is highly desirable. Responsibilities: The synthetic chemistry candidate for this opportunity will be part of a multidisciplinary research team in the Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging within UCLA, located in Los Angeles, California. This candidate will work on developing novel methods for site-specific fluorination, organometallic chemistry as well as peptide labeling methods and will work closely with collaborators along the chemistry-biology interface. Interested candidates should be trained in traditional synthetic chemistry techniques and be willing to work in a highly collaborative environment. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry Sound knowledge of organic chemistry reactions, mechanisms, multistep synthesis, and purification techniques Experience in organometallic chemistry or fluorine chemistry is highly desirable Must be able to prioritize work, multi-task and be very well organized Effective problem solving skills Must have demonstrated awareness of safety practices required for working with hazardous chemicals Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with strong work ethic Highly motivated and demonstrates the ability to work efficiently and productively in a dynamic team environment with other scientific disciplines Experience in fluorine-18 radiochemistry is a plus but is not required To apply, please visit: https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF07806 The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
