Job Description
The Center for Neutrino Physics at Virginia Tech (http://cnp.phys.vt.edu) invites applications for a post-doctoral research associate focusing on the CHANDLER Reactor Neutrino Detector Project and the COHERENT Experiment. The main ongoing activities of the group are construction and commissioning the first full-scale CHANDLER detector module; deployment and analysis of the upgraded MiniCHANDLER detector; operation and analysis of the first Heavy Water Flux Normalization Detector at COHERENT; and construction of the second COHERENT Heavy Water module.
The position will be based in Blacksburg, Virginia, but may include travel to install, commission and service detectors at facilities in the region. The successful candidate will participate in the mentoring of both graduate and undergraduate students.
Required Qualifications
Postdoctoral associate applicants must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics, or a closely related field, by the appointment start date. The PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly desired: neutrino detectors, data acquisition systems, statistical data analysis, VHDL, ROOT, C++, and GEANT4.
