We are looking for highly skilled and self motivated Postgres DBA who has good experience on DBA tasks and automation of DBA tasks. The focus will be on both on-premises and public clouds AWS (Aurora) and GCP (Cloud SQL & Spanner)
Responsibilities:
Automation of regular DBA tasks like monitoring, backup, recovery, db changes, query automation, rebuild of replicas etc
Identify automation opportunities, resource saves and process improvement avenues
Well versed with automation and db monitoring tools like ansible, Python, Github, shell scripting, Grafana dashboards, Terraform
Postgres monitor tools integration with Servicenow, slack and other ticket or alert generation tools
DBA tasks such as
First line support of PostgresSQL databases and tickets
Backup and recovery of Postgres DB
Monitoring and handle alerts
Replication build, monitor and troubleshoot
Performance monitoring and tuning
Working knowledge of native Replication in PostgreSQL
Database extension like SQL advisor, PG stats
Actively participate & drive major incident management troubleshooting calls
Manage and monitor DBs using PgAdmin, Patroni & Pgbackrest tools
Performing maintenance activities like vacuum, vacuum full and analyze
Day to day Change, Incident Management, problem management and explore options for optimization/HA/process improvements.
Enhance observability dashboards & improve alerting
Flexible in working on weekend on rotation basis
How will you make an impact in this role?
We are looking for highly skilled and self motivated Postgres DBA who has good experience on DBA tasks and automation of DBA tasks. The focus will be on both on-premises and public clouds AWS (Aurora) and GCP (Cloud SQL & Spanner).
You will be joining our global technology's Database Operations team in American Express as Postgres DBA
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Science Engineering, or related field
4+ years Database Administrator experience on Postgres DBA
Experience in one of the public cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
Linux experience as it pertains to database and OS performance monitoring, log monitoring and upgrades
Quick learning and adoption ability
Preferred Qualifications
Experience on OEM for Postgres monitor is plus
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members
Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $140,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
