Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E+ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Job Summary: The Electrification and Energy Solution (E+ES) is looking for an experienced engineer to support the development of Caterpillar Advanced Power conversion systems. In this role, you will serve as an experienced individual contributor on complex and exciting advanced power products including megawatt class off-board fast DC chargers and Bidirectional Power Converters for energy storage system. This person will be responsible for the electrical design and performance of the above power conversion systems from development through production. This role will also collaborate with cooling, manufacturing, reliability team along with purchasing and validation teams.
What You Will Do: Determining detailed functional requirements for power conversion systems (inverters, converters, and chargers), reviewing the technical documentation to determine compliance with requirements and evaluate technical characteristics. Design and release power conversion components and systems for Caterpillar power conversion products. Provide engineering support for product field issues, work with field engineers for rapid solutions to problems as they arise. Collect and provide the required documentation for internal stakeholders to allow for standardized deployment of power conversion systems (inverters, converters, and chargers). Collaborate with supporting teams to develop an FMEA based validation plan. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize the product design for production. Collaborate with suppliers to develop and/or purchase components for use within the power conversion product line. What you will have: Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum. Experience with design and development of power electronics or power conversion systems. Top Candidates Will Also Have: Master's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum. Experience with new product introduction and FMEA based product development. Experience working with suppliers and purchasing to introduce a new product to market. Experience with Megawatt Charging System (MCS) design and validation. Additional Information: This position may sit from Tucson, AZ, or Mossville, IL in a hybrid flexible role (3 days in office, 2 days work from home). Up to 10% travel will be needed.
