Power BI Developer / SQL Data Modeler Location: Chicago, IL or Tempe, AZ ;Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) Client: Microsoft Project Overview: Our direct client is seeking highly experienced Power BI Developers to join their IT Matrix and Data Analytics group.
This role will focus on creating Power BI reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights and support key business decisions for internal clients.
Key Responsibilities: Develop end-to-end dashboards and reports in Power BI.
Communicate effectively with the Product Owner regarding project timelines and deliverables, maintaining a RAID log.
Engage in knowledge transfer sessions with the Product Manager to understand data schemas and visual standards.
Collaborate with clients and the Product Manager to refine technical requirements.
Work closely with data engineering and architecture teams to ensure data availability and flow.
Design and implement interactive reports in Power BI, adhering to best practices and standards.
Integrate features such as drill-through, drill-down, and tooltips for enhanced user interaction.
Ensure reports meet established performance benchmarks and configure appropriate refresh schedules.
Conduct data validation and unit testing, collaborating with QA/QC teams and participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Document data models, report structures, and the logic utilized in development.
Participate in daily stand-up meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
Qualifications (Must-Haves): Extensive experience as a Power BI Developer with a strong focus on data modeling and SQL skills.
Proficient in using Bookmarks, Custom Visuals, and Field Parameters to create user-defined experiences in Power BI.
At least 10-12 years of overall development experience.
A minimum of 6 years in Power BI Development demonstrating advanced skills.
8 years of SQL experience, including data modeling and writing complex queries.
Familiarity with GIT for version control.
Nice-to-Haves: Experience with Object-Oriented Framework development.
Familiarity with Miro.
