**Description** _**Summary:**_Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring forpre-operative patients. Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance withhospital standards. Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situationsthat could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Provides comfort and supportfor pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient care andprivacy. Transports patients to and from the Operating Room suite. Positionspatients according to the type of surgery. Identifies and cares for biologicalspecimens. Prepares the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, andsupplies according to type of case. Innovative equipment and procedures are utilized, including anOutpatient Imaging Center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, arenovated birthing center, including 247 neonatal coverage, emergency care,wound carehyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care,from diagnostics to open-heart surgery._**Responsibilities:**_• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader ofSelf, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. • Under the direction of a professional nurse, performs all processes thatrelate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the ORprior to and during any surgical procedure. • Ability to proficiently scrub 3 specialty areas including but not limitedto: Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics, etc.is highly preferred. • Establishes and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments, and suturesto the physician, and assists as directed by the physician. • Use the physician preference card as a beginning point when pulling casesand setting up the OR. • Ensures that preference cards are kept up to date and as complete aspossible. • Works effectively as a member of the team caring for the patient. • Cooperates in team planning and execution. • Maintains a safe environment by always implementing technical and asepticpractices. • Demonstrates clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgicalsupplies, instruments, and equipment. • Adheres to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and own safety inall patient care situations. • Demonstrates competency to monitor and control the surgical environment.Maintains proper traffic control, dress codes, and adherence to OR sanitationpolicies and procedures. • Familiar with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination,processing, and sterilization of all instruments and supplies that areprocessed within the facility. • Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities ina manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs ofpatients served by the department. • Appropriately adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment andor caremethods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served. • Performs other duties as assigned. EducationSkills** * High School Diploma or equivalent is required * Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVNLPN program is required**B. Experience** * 2 or more years of experience preferred**C.
