President, Tecan Americas
Morrisville, NC
The President is responsible for Tecan USA's financial and market performance, as measured by organic growth and cash flow. The President is also accountable for supporting the definition and execution of a local business strategy. The President is critical in maximizing impact through implementing world-class product launch processes, high-impact product positioning and promotion programs, and directing strong alignment between marketing communications, sales, and commercial leadership functions. The President must work effectively in a matrix management environment and cooperate with broader stakeholders, including internal and external channel partners.
As the President of Tecan Americas, you must be a hands-on leader willing to roll up your sleeves to implement a fully integrated operational and strategic plan locally. As a high-level summary, the President is responsible for the following nationally:
Accountable for the business performance of Tecan USA.
Accountable for all direct sales and back-office operations as well as Service of Tecan USA - direct reporting line.
Responsible for all Finance, HR, IT, and QARA - dotted reporting line.
Responsible for the support of the Partnering Business (PB).
Your contribution
Define and achieve strategic and financial goals, including organic growth and cash flow for the US market.
Identify products, technologies, and capabilities needed to advance the US market position.
Participate in the product life cycle and technology development roadmap for future investments linked to each business segment's market-driven customer needs.
Increase field launch effectiveness through management processes that align product management, marketing development, and commercial leadership for the US market.
Build effective relationships with customers, strategic partners, and cross-functional leaders to ensure targeted goals are met.
Implement change management initiatives and champion a Practical Process Improvement environment.
Leverage the Tecan value proposition to optimize impact on the customer experience and business results.
Manage relationships with channel partners while optimizing channel mix (distributors, direct sales, e-business) and price.
Your background
A bachelor's degree in relevant fields, such as Science, Business Administration, or similar, is required; an MBA is preferred.
10-15 years of industry experience in a senior management role with a proven track record of driving sales growth and business expansion, preferably in life-science-related industries.
5-10 years of P&L responsibility for a matrixed national organization.
10+ years of distributor management, ensuring smooth operations and streamlining to maximize profitability while pursuing strategic expansion opportunities. Maintain and grow productive and professional relationships.
Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Ability to manage, motivate, and influence multiple personnel in various functions without direct supervisory role and progress issues through a matrixed functional organization for the overall success of the business unit.
Experience in Life Sciences/Diagnostics products, including national P&L Leadership.
Ability to coach, lead, and manage staff of all functional areas with confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, and sound business judgment.
Ability to recognize and solve potential problems, demonstrating business safety and integrity.
Strong analytical capability and experience.
Solve business issues by managing costs and risks.
Significant financial acumen to evaluate business plans, contributions, and risk, including an understanding of operational finance (e.g., cost accounting and revenue recognition).
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong leadership capabilities.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to launch and deliver multiple projects on time and within the budget.
Ability to collaborate with the existing management by being a good listener and team builder and articulating/advocating the vision.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Substantial travel (50%) between regional and local offices. Occasionally, international travel may be required to visit Tecan HQ.
Mature and balanced business personality that is locally convincing, non-political, trustworthy, and has high ethical standards.
Strong integrative skills are very diplomatic, modest, and pragmatic.
Brilliant, effective communicator and persuasive presenter.
Stress-resistant to a high degree with high flexibility, fast thinker, and "doer."
