Job Summary:


The Prevention Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the implementation of the Check and Connect Student Engagement Intervention Model throughout the district. This includes training personnel, data collection, budgeting, and program collaboration and coordination.



Essential Functions: Provide professional development experiences to district employees in mentoring practices, home visits, data collection and time management. Coordinate the activities of district personnel that are utilizing Check and Connect Student Engagement Intervention Model. Demonstrate and model student mentoring strategies and home visits. Liaison with other departments, schools, programs, and other organizations regarding student engagement. Participate in relative committees, district or otherwise. Communicate with parents through home visits, telephone calls, e-mails, and other appropriate means, to discuss the student's progress and goals. Encourage parental involvement in students' education. Ensures that student conduct and attendance are consistent with the school's standards and school district policies. Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding the student's needs Participate in Student Support Team meetings as required. Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community. Understand and adhere to laws, district policies, and procedures. Maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and members of the community. Be a positive role model. Supervises and evaluates staff in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment. Assist in the budgetary and financial affairs of the program. Non-essential Functions: Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of best practices in program evaluation and staff supervision. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Experience with supervision, schools, & mentoring. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop and implement projects. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance, and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Required Education and Qualifications: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally-accredited college or university. Requires certification in the Check and Connect Student Engagement Intervention Model or willing to become certified within the first 6 months of employment. Required Prior Experience: Experience in K-12 education preferred. Successful Supervisory experience preferred. Assigned Decision Making: Empowered to design and deliver professional learning activities for district employees regarding the Check and Connect Student Engagement Intervention Model. Makes decisions regarding evaluation and continued employment for assigned employees. Non-supervisory Interaction: Interacts and collaborates with employees, board members, patrons, vendors, administrators, and secretaries in schools. Works with various department secretaries, coordinators, managers and directors. Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises classified specialist in the department. Budget Responsibility :

In collaboration with the Gang Prevention Specialist & Drug and Alcohol Specialist, responsible to create and manage yearly data and budget needs for assigned grants. Working Environment: Work takes place in a typical school environment. Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Physical Demands:
