Primary Job Responsibilities: Patient Care: Provide comprehensive and patient-centered primary care services to individuals and families in the community, focusing on disease prevention, health promotion, and the management of chronic conditions.Collaborative Care: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to address the unique healthcare needs of the local population. Collaborate with specialty providers across the islands to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care, even when specialized services are not readily available in West Hawaii.Community Outreach: Engage in community outreach programs to raise awareness about health issues and promote preventive measures. Participate in health education initiatives to empower the community in making informed decisions about their well-being.Culturally Sensitive Care: Demonstrate a deep understanding and respect for the diverse cultural backgrounds of the community members, tailoring healthcare approaches to meet their specific needs and beliefs.Electronic Health Records (EHR): Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, ensuring seamless communication with the healthcare team and other providers involved in patient care.Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services provided by the organization.Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies in the community and provide immediate care until additional help arrives.Perform other related duties as required.Education: Medical degree from an accredited medical school. Be board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Possess an active and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Hawaii.
Experience: Demonstrate experience in providing primary care services, preferably in rural or underserved settings. Previous experience in collaborating with specialty providers is advantageous.
Performance Requirements: Knowledge: Knowledge of common rural health issues and diseases prevalent in the area.Proficient in clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient care coordination.Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance (HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid).Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and computer proficiency.Awareness of the unique challenges and barriers rural communities face in accessing healthcare.Skills & Abilities: Clinical expertise in handling a wide range of medical conditions and emergencies.Ability to diagnose and treat patients with limited resources and diagnostic tools.Compassion and Empathy: Exhibit genuine care and empathy towards patients, embracing the organization's Christian values in providing healthcare with a compassionate approach.Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with patients, team members, and specialists across the islands.Compassionate and patient-centered approach to healthcare, aligning with our Christian nonprofit organization's values.Be flexible and adaptable in managing the unique challenges and opportunities that come with delivering healthcare services in a rural setting.Understanding of preventive healthcare measures to promote community well-being.Capacity to work independently and make critical decisions in the absence of immediate specialist support.Familiarity with basic procedures and minor surgeries to handle cases in the absence of specialized facilities.Cultural sensitivity and respect for local customs and traditions.Willingness to participate in community engagement and outreach activities.Adaptability to stay updated with changing healthcare regulations and industry trends.Physical Requirements: Medical staff should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations efficiently. Medical staff may need to perform physically demanding tasks, such as assisting patients with mobility, transferring patients to examination tables, or helping with minor surgical procedures. This can involve prolonged standing, bending, and lifting. Medical staff in urgent care often encounter patients with acute illnesses, injuries, or emotional distress. Dealing with such situations can be emotionally challenging and may require empathy, compassion, and the ability to manage stress effectively.
Medical office, well lighted, well ventilated. Involves frequent contact with staff and patients. May view computer screens for long periods of time. Occasional evening or weekend work.
All staff are expected to keep their work areas clean and free of clutter, as well as maintaining the break room by cleaning up after themselves, and occasionally serving one another by cleaning surfaces, putting dishes away, etc.
Position Wage and Benefits: This is a full-time (salaried) position. Pay depends on credentials with opportunity for growth based on merit and benchmarks with the company.
