Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teach science courses for kindergarten through grade 4. Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement an effective, engaging, and meaningful Primary School Science scope and sequence that is vertically and horizontally aligned. Employ inclusive and innovative instruction, including regular labs, hands-on science activities, and outdoor education. Create a warm and well-structured learning environment with consistent routines and high expectations that encourages and supports intellectual risk-taking and growth. Provide timely individualized feedback to students. Communicate proactively with families. Contribute to the life of Day School by leading student clubs and activities, including an after school elementary robotics club. Supervise students as assigned by Division Head. Be a visible presence at Primary School events. Actively collaborate with the Primary School faculty and Science Department. Actively participate in faculty meetings and professional development. Model a commitment to lifelong learning and growth. Uphold Day School's Mission and core values. Other duties may be assigned by the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, or Division Head.
Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; Master's degree, preferred. Experience teaching Primary School Science, preferred. Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of Primary School students. Demonstrated ability to inspire students. Exceptional written and oral skills. Committed to collaboration and innovation.
