Overview The Principal Epidemiologist Consultant assists with the improvement of Northwest Permanente's capabilities in population health, evidence-based medicine, comparative effectiveness, and predictive analytics. This position partners with the Executive Director of Analytics and other leaders to design and execute scalable solutions that improve quality, access, service, and other pillars. The professional in this position educates colleagues in Northwest Permanente to ensure dissemination of those solutions. This position is a hybrid temporary consulting role.
Primary Responsibilities: Serves as an expert, maintaining deep knowledge of complex areas of focus/domains: epidemiology, evidence-based medicine, comparative effectiveness, and predictive analytics.Maintains expertise in healthcare data and state-of-the-art analytic tools, ready to recommend and execute analytic solutions to complex business problems.Delivers thought leadership and consultative services to key customers across the organization, translating business needs and problems into business intelligence and analytic solutions.Conducts searches of published studies and rapid critical appraisals of studies to improve evidence-based decision-making.Monitors relevant Federal regulatory guidelines and advises leadership on compliance.Leads efforts to adopt and implement state-of-the-art methodologies in design, conduct, analysis, and reporting.Conducts research, develops prediction models, evaluates the comparative effectiveness of new interventions vs usual care, and conducts systematic reviews. Research is collaborative with Kaiser Permanente Northwest's Center for Health Research.Qualifications: Doctorate in Epidemiology or Biostatistics.Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in epidemiology.Minimum six (6) years of progressive leadership experience leading teams that conduct epidemiological research and consulting.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills - a demonstrated ability to deliver relevant and actionable insights.Proven ability to guide and motivate cross-functional analytic teams to complete complex projects and achieve results in a fast-paced, matrixed, evolving work environment.About Northwest Permanente: We are the Permanente in Kaiser Permanente.
