Weston Solutions has an immediate need for a leader in emerging contaminants with a primary focus on PFAS.
The Principal Engineer/Scientist will serve as a national technical and sales resource with responsibilities including providing senior-level technical support to projects/proposals, serving as a thought leader in their area(s) of specialty through participation in internal and outside organizations (i.e., ITRC, SERDP, etc.
), and participating in business development opportunities.
Weston has a significant backlog of work involving PFAS and other emerging contaminants (i.e., remedial investigation, feasibility studies, remediation design, and implementation of remedial actions) for both private and federal sector clients and we foresee continued growth in this area.
As a leader within Weston, you will share your technical knowledge and view on PFAS, 1,4-dioxane, microplastics, and/or other applicable subjects to our Emerging Contaminants and Remediation Communities of Practice.
The successful candidate will have a successful work history in environmental consulting for investigation and remediation projects, and demonstrated experience working on PFAS related projects is required for this position.
This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills including polished client presentation skills, organization, and time management.
The successful individual will thrive in a team-oriented environment and have the flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects.
A positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
Limited field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors.
Anticipated division of job-related tasks is about an 85/15 percent split between office and field work.
We are open to filling this position in any of our offices across the United States. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or applicable sciences.
PhD degree preferred.At least 10 years of demonstrated successful experience in the field of environmental consulting including investigation and remediation of soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and/or vapor intrusion.National stature and recognition through participation in national technical organization for PFAS.Experience with investigation and treatment of novel contaminants required including, but not limited to, PFAS and 1,4-dioxane as well as traditional contaminants like chlorinated solvents, gasoline contaminants, metals, etc.Strong technical acumen of PFAS remediation technologies and investigation/remediation strategies including addressing source zones/source attribution, mitigating risk pathways, chemical statistics/forensics.Experience designing, overseeing, and/or managing site investigations utilizing HRSC techniques.Experience developing and refining conceptual site models and developing contaminant fate and transport models.Working knowledge of Federal and State regulatory processes and reporting (CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, state-specific cleanup programs, etc.
).Experience communicating conceptual site models and remedial solutions to clients, regulators, and technical teams.Able to analyze, interpret, and present data, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.Demonstrated understanding and awareness of health and safety practices.Plan, schedule, and perform quality control (QC) checks and reviews.Able to work effectively in group settings with diverse team members.Valid driver's license.Able to carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Desired, but not mandatory, qualifications include:Professional Engineer license (or other equivalent and applicable license) or ability to obtain within 1 year.These job requirements are not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned.
