The Principal Experience Designer leads cross-disciplinary teams on multiple, wide-ranging and complex design programs or products to deliver great experiences. The Principal Experience Designer defines and aligns teams around a design vision that informs approach and is accountable for opportunity framing and solution quality.

What we're looking for...

Lead a cross-disciplinary team in problem solving through facilitation of design activities combined with occasional hands-on work while planning overall approach in partnership with leaders.

Facilitate and inspire creative concepting.

Guide appropriate range of exploration.

Plan and facilitate iteration and critique to improve solution quality and support user, business, and technical requirements.

Recommend and facilitate design activities/methods to guide teams and partners through ambiguous project periods.

Identify activities and communications necessary to deliver digital product strategy ideas to a partner.

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate meetings with staff and partners to gather feedback, make decisions, and determine next steps.

Help teams align on a vision that informs design approach and project priorities.

Guide exploration, refinement, and documentation to be comprehensive and thorough.

Uphold and maintain attention to detail for all designers.

Uphold standards for solution quality and documentation for all designers.

Coach team to communicate proposed solutions to stakeholders in business terms.

Propose high-level technical approaches and evaluate solutions for appropriateness and viability.

Professional demeanor through body language, precise communication, concise, make decisions, communicate next steps and action items. Define the presentation and activity materials for best outcome.

Anticipate motivations and drivers of colleagues and partners and shape project approaches and solutions to satisfy business and design needs.

Make partners stronger by teaching design-led processes and best practice

This role is a hybrid schedule in office that includes assigned office days (VCG in office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
You'll need to have:

Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

six or more years of relevant work experience.

Willingness to travel approximately up to 25%.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

Bachelor's or Master's degree related to UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Industrial Design, or relevant degree or experience in the field.

Hands on expertise on large projects with complex structures.

Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar software.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse stakeholders.

Experience leading a team of designers.

Passion for user-centered design and a relentless focus on delivering exceptional user experiences.

Demonstrated industry knowledge and expertise with complex systems.

Experience in the connectivity area is a plus.

Experience working in Agile or Lean product development environments is a plus.

For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances.If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $136,000.00 and $253,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
