Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on the selection, test, qualification and support of our optical/connectivity products within Network Engineering. This role will own low-level performance testing and selection of Pluggable optics, AOCs, DACs, and other connectivity mediums. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet.

Lead the testing and selection of our optics/active cabling driving requirements across different service teams and translating those requirements into usable products. Organizes project technical milestones & supporting tasks. May work as project technical lead, coordinating the effort of two or three engineers. Advises project/program manager and coordinates with immediate and skip-level leadership. Collaborates across teams within the same organization (same VP) and outside of the organization. Serve as technical SME in cross-functional activities. Has technical responsibility for complex project(s), including project requirements, specifications (where applicable), and documentation. Responsible for decomposing high-level architectures into detailed designs. Ability to lead multiple engineers in developing network solutions consisting of multiple modules with complex interactions; Work with supporting service teams to ensure solutions are properly supported by monitoring and automation systems. Serves specialized escalation for all optics and cabling issues within networking. Serves as principal point of contact for driving systematic resolution of complex network design issues. Understand current and future cabling and optical standards, cable plant design, low-level test and qualification practices, vendor and quality management systems. Provides a broad set of guidance to technical and senior technical members of staff. Interprets input from leaders (technical and managers) and provides focused development to junior members. Able to carry out technical coaching sessions, and helps junior members develop skills. Collaborates with vendor engineering and account manager to address current business or operational issues. Participates in the development of RFQ/RFPs. May lead the adoption of new vendor hardware. Active communication with product teams. Responsible to drive technology to meet product and service requirements. Participate in coordinated communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to help assess gaps, solutions, and needs.
