Job Description: Parsons' Water Group in Pasadena, CA is now hiring for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work with an established engineering design group experienced in the design of wastewater treatment plant facilities. Willingness to travel or relocate to the client's location in Orange County is expected. This position will initially work at a client's office in Orange County, CA.

What You'll Be Doing: Prepare detailed drawings, technical specifications, and scopes of work; and perform construction support services. Design or oversee design of mechanical piping systems, wastewater treatment systems, reclaimed water systems, lift stations, etc. including calculations. Perform design QA/QC reviews to conduct a comprehensive multi-discipline design review on assigned projects. Respond to engineering bid questions and addenda, respond to contractor's requests for information during construction, verify that equipment meets design specifications, and prepare design changes. May function as discipline project engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group. Lead other engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process. Provide technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses. Ensure compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract. Prepare material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; review supplier data; witness shop tests, assist with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities. Develop operation and maintenance plans; develop standard operating procedures; prepare O & M manuals and may conduct on-site training of personnel. Conduct surveys, studies, and site investigations. Perform reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. What Required Skills You'll Bring: Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communication skills, and familiarity with industry practices and regulations are required. Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on projects. Specific knowledge in preparing hydraulic calculations, process piping design and layout, plumbing system design and layout, chemical storage system design and layout, and pumping system design and layout. Working knowledge of various processes such as headworks, primary clarifiers, aeration basins, secondary clarifiers, disinfection processes, anaerobic digestion, reverse osmosis, and solids dewatering. Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME, ASTM, ANSI, UPC, NFPA, OSHA, etc. Ability to conduct independent field investigations and collect data to support design work. Ability to write specifications and anticipate problems while developing viable solutions. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; excellent team player; aggressive and a self-starter. Familiarity in working within other design disciplines is desired. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. Good understanding of safety issues including Cal OSHA regulations. What Desired Skills You'll Bring: Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Licensed Mechanical Engineer in the State of California is required. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of wastewater treatment or similar industrial facilities. Good knowledge of the wastewater treatment environment and the nature of design and construction related thereof. Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Not Applicable/None

Salary Range: $96,400.00 - $168,700.00
