Job Title: Principal Optical Coating Engineer Job Description: Lead the development of new, cutting-edge DUV laser optical thin films and introduce critical processes at IPG's state-of-the-art optical coating facility.
As the Principal Optical Coating Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing advanced optical coatings for known and unknown spectral ranges, with a focus on UV, visible, and IR.
This is a new, highly visible position, reporting directly to key decision-makers, including the CEO, offering you the chance to influence technology choices and shape the future of optical coatings at IPG.
Key Responsibilities: Spearhead IPG's proprietary DUV optical coating program, developing new thin film coatings and production protocols. Collaborate across teams to ensure the success of product development and continuous improvement. Design, evaluate, and implement coatings such as anti-reflective, high-reflective, beam splitters, and filters for UV and IR applications. Drive innovative coating solutions using cutting-edge technologies like Ion Beam Sputtering, Electron Beam deposition, and thermal evaporation. Communicate R&D progress through reports and presentations, ensuring transparency with internal and external stakeholders. Requirements Qualifications: Advanced degree in Science/Engineering, with expertise in thin film, optics, or materials science. Expertise in Ion Beam Sputtering, Electron Beam deposition, Ion-Assisted Deposition, and advanced vacuum coating technologies.
