Genentech is seeking a talented and highly motivated Principal Scientist in Computational Biology to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to our data-driven projects, collaborating closely with the Immunology Discovery & Regenerative Medicine Departments.
The OpportunityRecent advancements at Genentech and in the larger scientific community have highlighted the importance of understanding cellular niches and cell-cell communication for identifying novel drug targets. In this role, you will focus on research in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Your primary responsibility will be to plan and analyze multi-omic experiments, with a particular emphasis on spatial transcriptomics data from patient tissues. The goal is to maximize insights into COPD biology and disease progression, directly informing novel therapeutic target and biomarker discovery, and addressing key project team questions related to forward and reverse translation.
You will design and analyze multi-omic experiments, with a primary focus on understanding COPD disease biology with spatial transcriptomics and single-cell analysis methods.You will integrate data across various single-cell datasets (atlas efforts).You will understand and apply best-in-class algorithms to address biological and clinical questions.You will collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team of quantitative, experimental, and clinical scientists.You will present complex results clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.Who you areYou have a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Or a Ph.D. in (Molecular) Biology or Immunology with in-depth experience in high-throughput data analysis evidenced by publications.You have >3 years of post-PhD experience (industry or academia).You have experience with single-cell/spatial assays and multi-omic data integration.You have proficiency in using advanced analytical tools and algorithms.You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to varied audiences.You have a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.Relocation benefits are available for this posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $146,800 - 272,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
