Atlassian is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join our Experimentation Data Science team.
This team partners with the experimentation engineering team to enhance Atlassian's experimentation capabilities by delivering training, tools, and analyses to facilitate quick decision-making.
Your future teamThe Experimentation Data Science team is part of the Atlassian Corporate Engineering Organization, focusing on increasing the velocity and value of experiments.
We collaborate cross-functionally with teams in GTM, growth, product, data engineering, and analytics platforms, providing expertise and hands-on support for large-scale experimentation.
What you'll doAs a Principal Experimentation Data Scientist, you will drive experimentation practices and analyses, collaborating with business, engineering, and analytics teams to enable trustworthy decisions at scale.
You will lead the organization in developing and adopting innovative methods to enhance the speed of the experimentation lifecycle.
Your backgroundOn the first day, we'll expect you to haveMaster or PhD in a quantitative subject (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or relevant work experience)5+ years of related industry experience in data science and experimentationExperience building and scaling experimentation practices, statistical methods, and tools in large organizationsExperience with causal inference, multi-arm bandits, reinforcement learning, synthetic data, and non-parametric methodsExpertise in SQL, familiarity with Python, and knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments (e.g., AWS, Databricks)Ability to communicate and explain data science concepts to diverse audiencesFocus on business practicality and the 80/20 rule, balancing output quality with timely deliveryAgile development mindset, valuing constant iteration and improvementIt's great, but not required, if you haveExperience in consumer or B2C space for a SaaS product provider, or in the enterprise/B2B spaceFamiliarity with go-to-market (GTM), buyer experience, and Growth teamsSkills in solving ambiguous and complex problems and developing innovative solutionsAtlassian offers a variety of perks and benefits to support you and your family, including health coverage, paid volunteer days, and wellness resources.
