Job Description:
The Procurement Specialist is also responsible for supporting the supply chain of Client's primary cell manufacturing operation.
The primary responsibilities of this position are the procurement of supplies for manufacturing production and the procurement of human and animal organs and tissues for research.
The process of procuring human organs and tissues involves medically evaluating records and ensuring the overall quality is suitable for isolating cells.
In addition, this individual will coordinate with external partners such as vendors and suppliers of services needed to complete the organ donation process (i.e., hospitals, tissue banks, OPOs, and transportation services).
Procuring animal organs and tissues involves collaboration with veterinarians and technicians from animal vendors and may function as a surgical team member or consultant on the best methods for appropriately utilizing an aseptic technique to recover the organ for research purposes.
In addition, the Organ and Tissue Procurement Specialist II is responsible for documentation of all aspects of Tissue collection (i.e., IRBs, MTAs, contracts, consents) and maintains tissue reports and analyzes data for process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement of lab supplies to support Client operations team.
Proactively identify and manage areas of supply risk, understanding developments and changes at suppliers that may affect supply of materials, and taking appropriate measures to maintain delivery capability.
Review and evaluation of suppliers with regard to compliance with agreed service level agreements, particularly delivery times.
Participate in and initiate process improvements using the PPI methodology.
Participate in cost reduction and productivity improvement programs.
Evaluate and coordinate the procurement of human and animal organs and tissues.
Ensure suitability for cell isolation and research by evaluating medical records and quality standards.
Collaborate with external partners such as hospitals, tissue banks, OPOs, and transportation services.
Maintain proficiency in organ procurement coordination, including evaluation of tissue suitability.
Perform tissue recovery and manage inventory control, ensuring accurate acquisition and logistics.
Collaborate with manufacturing and lab supervisors to determine tissue needs.
Maintain procurement databases and generate analytical reports as required.
Collaborate with manufacturing and lab supervisors to make sure all tissues are received in the ERP system and invoiced correctly.
Collaborate with accounts payable to make sure that invoices and purchase orders are received and delivered on time.
Education and Skills Required: Education: BA, BS, Masters, RN, or Paramedic with clinical work experience. Experience: Minimum of three years in organ procurement, surgical transplant, or clinical equivalent. Skills: Experience in a Procurement / Sourcing role, strong clinical knowledge, project management abilities, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in computer applications such as ERP system (Oracle enterprise One) Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Additional Requirements:
Availability: Must be available for a 24/7 on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays (up to 50% of weeks).
Hybrid Work: requires 4 days on-site.
Travel: Ability to travel less than 10%, as needed.

The Tissue Procurement Specialist II role at *** is integral to supporting research by ensuring the procurement of lab supplies and the procurement of human and animal organs and tissues.
It requires clinical expertise, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and external partners.
