Hood Industries, Inc. is hiring production positions at our lumber mill located in Silver Creek, MS. We are seeking high performing and motivated team players to join our team and grow with us. The positions are entry level positions that have opportunities for advancement. The primary purpose of a production associate is being responsible for cleaning designated areas in the production areas of lumber, bark, and sawdust using a variety of hand and mechanical tools/equipment safely and efficiently, assuring smooth and efficient machinery operation as well as providing for a safe workplace. Key Functions: Safely and effectively operate assigned machine centers in the sawmill and planer mill at production levels.Safely and effectively maintain housekeeping that will include cleaning debris from equipment, shoveling sawdust, and any other housekeeping duties. Responsible for using an assortment of hand tools such as hoses, shovels, brooms, blower, etc. Monitor machines to ensure continued movement of lumber and materials throughout the mill to ensure production quality and quantity standards are met.Adhere to all safety, health, policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Able to work safely and follow all company policies and procedures.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work independently or as part of a team. Ability to make decisions quickly utilizing hand, eye, and foot coordination. Able to work at heights over 4 feet off the ground and wear a body harness.Able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.Learn to operate various machines and equipment.Able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. Able to work in a hot, cold, noisy, industrial environment.Able to pull and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, kneeling, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day. Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED preferred.Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.Previous machine operation experience in a production environment preferred.
