Job Title: Production Manager Location: Plainfield, IL Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire full time Pay rate: 90k plus depending on experience PURPOSE OF ROLE: The Production Manager will need to ensure smooth operations throughout the production department. The Production Manager is responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Oversees the efficiency and timely completion of all production projects to meet customer requirements. • Must be able to analyze trends and solve problems. • Motivate, coach, counsel, train and develop team members to maximize contributions critical to the production process. • Reacts quickly and appropriately to problems in the warehouse; follow up in a timely manner and resolves issues. • Act with integrity demonstrates responsible ethical and honest behavior in all tasks and responsibilities. • Creates a customer focused environment in which excellent customer service is provided. • Responsible for assisting with interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. • Participate in planning and implementation of department goals and objectives. • Schedules work orders based on lead-times, complexity, and manpower and equipment availability. • Assist Quality Coordinator with the investigation and completion of corrective actions. • Assist Quality Coordinator with the update of controlled documents to ensure they reflect the current process. • Motivates self and others to accomplish important objectives despite a complex environment and multiple demands; creates a sense of urgency and appropriately delegate. • Communicates effectively and clearly too all audiences; keeps others informed and listens carefully to input and feedback; adapts message to audience. • Oversees the department daily activities and future workloads, i.e., manpower and hours of operation. • Identify and document personnel issues and achievements and prepares quarterly/annual reviews. • Manages the control of overtime hours, vacation request and absenteeism covers. • Contributes to decisions in hiring, discharge, transfers and promotions. • Responsible for reviewing production schedule and revising the schedule for changing work order specifications. • Communicate and follow-up with production supervisors and operations manager to implement the daily/weekly production schedule. • Must be on call for staff, and after hour emergencies. • Assist in planning and communicating project-related information. • Compile new work orders as needed. •Communicate with Inventory Lead any problems that slow down production i.e. equipment failures, supply or manpower issues. • Work closely with inventory coordinators to determine inventory levels and packaging needs. • Develop and maintain production reports with current data. • Provides packaging instructions for railcars based on the customer requirements. • Ability to enforce disciplinary actions, i.e. verbal reprimands and written reprimands. • Monitors the production supervisor's reports for accuracy. • Communicates the department needs to upper management and submits maintenance request to the appropriate personnel • Oversees the inventory movements by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouses; coordinating inventory transfers with related departments. • Oversees the recycling/baling program in coordination with the appropriate personnel. KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred or High School Diploma with 5-10 years of extensive production experience. • Ability to read and understand documents such as work orders, packaging requests, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. . • Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) • Strong organization and communication skills. • Good Analytical skills and problem solving abilities. • Ability to handle high stress decision making scenarios. • Able to work independently and willing to take on additional duties as needed ESPO Corporation Leaders in Technical Recruiting & Staffing since 1965 We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and value the benefits of diversity in our workforce.
