Scope of the position: This position is the beginning Operator level and is responsible for the productivity and quality of the assigned extruder operation.Key Responsibilities: Maintains compliance with Company and plant safety policies and procedures. Completes all annual training as required. Know and understand dryer mechanics. Break down, clean, set up and start extruders. Perform tooling changes (set ups) on dies and restart extruder in an efficient and safe manner. Must be able to identify the shop orders, and all related documents, including key dimension sheets and drawings. Knows and understands the operation of downstream equipment. Identify types of materials utilized in the production of parts. Identify all screw and head types. Knows and understands the mechanics of the vacuum loading system and blending units. Produce parts in the medium difficulty range with little help that meet quality specifications at or above specified rates. Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) during the entire shift, to include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety footwear, etc. Identify the correct material in accordance with the Shop Order and produce a quality part. Develop speed and accuracy in machine tear down and set up. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned by management team.Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Working knowledge of the extrusion process and materials, highly preferred Above average communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to follow directions/processes Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment, which can be subject to numerous schedule and priority changesPhysical Demands: Moving and lifting objects up to 50 lbs occasionally Walking, standing and otherwise perform job functions on concrete floorsWork Environment: Manufacturing environment. Climate may be cold or hot depending on outside temperature.
