Shift Manager Mesquite, TX 2nd shift, M-F (2:30 PM-11:30 PM) Position Overview The Shift Manager will maintain all H.B.
Fuller Safety, Production and Quality Programs and ensure that the night shift team meets all applicable requirements.
There will be collaboration with the plant manager and plant leadership team to establish annual goals and objectives for the facility, including areas pertaining to budget, census, and productivity.
This person will manage the team in accordance with H.B.
Fuller policies, practices, procedures, and programs.
Primary Responsibilities Work to meet customer expectations regarding product quality and on-time-delivery.
Work with the maintenance staff to track and minimize production downtime and support proactive asset management initiatives.
Execute product scale ups and new product launches.
Participate in the facility meetings and actively serve as member of on-going plant committees including safety, quality, 5S, Housekeeping, & Food Safety
Lead shift meetings for shift transitions, safety, quality, 5S, housekeeping.
Identify quality, safety, housekeeping, productivity, and engagement issues.
Using H.B.
Fuller policies as a guideline, engage the team to understand root cause and develop possible solutions using a disciplined process improvement methodology.
Accountable for inventory, including reconciling material loss.
Build and lead teams.
Support development of employees.
Drive objectives using the Performance Planning & Assessment (PPA) process for direct reports within deadline and handle all corrective action according to established guidelines, in coordination with the Plant Manager, and the Human Resources Manager.
Participate in interviewing and selection process for new employees, and actively manage the on-boarding process for new hires, in accordance with established guidelines.
Operate a mixer, extruder, or forklift as required
Fill in to give other employees required, scheduled "breaks"
Shut down or start up the plant as appropriate
Monitor the mood of the team and plant, in general, and bring issues to the attention of plant management.
Develop and routinely assist in the training of other personnel
Enter or direct data entry to the ERP systems, information regarding production processes.
Support and strive to attain shift / departmental goals
Minimum Requirements High School degree and - years of related production experience including 2 years at a supervisory level OR 4-year degree and 3 years' experience leading and supervising others
Previous Extrusion Experience
Experience in Process Engineering in an Extrusion Environment will be considered OVER previous supervisory experience
Must be able to work independently and take written instruction
Must be a problem solver over the circumstances that will face the day-to-day operations
Ability to work in a plant environment, walking, standing, stairs, heat and cold (0-115-degree F)
Able to lift 40 pounds regularly
Strong organizational skills and an ability to plan and meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, accomplish specific objectives and solve problems independently
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations manually, with the aid of a calculator, or using computerized spreadsheets
Business and financial acumen
Experience with MS Office Suite
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Physical Environment While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand.
Employees are frequently required to walk, climb stairs, and use hands to move boxes and insert bags therein; reach with the hands and arms, and stoop and bend from the waist.
The employee must regularly lift and / or move containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
and occasionally move and / or lift containers weighing up to 100 lbs., with assistance.
