Key Responsibilities: Supervision & Leadership Lead, mentor, and manage the evening shift team of machinists, ensuring a safe, productive, and positive work environment. Conduct daily team briefings, assign tasks, and monitor work progress to meet production deadlines. Provide technical support and training to machinists as needed. Machine Setup & Troubleshooting Perform machine setups for various production jobs, ensuring all parameters are set for efficient and precise operations. Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues to minimize downtime, making adjustments or repairs as necessary. Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure machines are well-maintained and operational. Programming & Process Optimization Utilize CNC programming knowledge to adjust or create programs for new parts or production modifications. Continuously monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for process improvements and quality enhancements. Work closely with engineering and production planning to optimize workflows and improve production efficiency. Quality Control & Safety Compliance Oversee quality assurance by inspecting first-off parts and performing random checks throughout production. Ensure compliance with all safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies, promoting a safe work environment. Document and report production data, including quality metrics, downtime, and machine issues. Administrative Duties Prepare and maintain shift reports, documenting performance metrics, machine issues, and other relevant information. Coordinate with other shifts and departments to ensure seamless production handoffs and address any cross-shift concerns. Manage inventory of tools, materials, and spare parts required for evening shift operations. Qualifications: Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Technical Skills Proficiency in CNC programming and machine setup (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders). Strong troubleshooting skills, including mechanical and basic electrical knowledge. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Soft Skills Strong leadership and communication skills with a commitment to developing team members. Detail-oriented with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
