Position Description: We are looking for a Professional Engineer/Project Manager to join our Community Design Team to improve infrastructure in our Traverse City office. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering, PE registration and ten or more years of construction project manager experience. Excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work well with others. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule available after 90 days of employment. 
\n Typical responsibilities include: Provide oversight of the construction staff in Traverse City and Gaylord offices.Manage day-to-day construction duties, scheduling, field support, client contact and field engineering.Manage CM inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspection reports in accordance with clients' requirements.Review construction work progress daily. Provide daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards, codes, and permits.Manage CM staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.Manage the Contractor payment process and recommends appropriate adjustments as necessary to manage the Contractor.Responsible for overall site safety, permit condition compliance and coordination with other stakeholders.Communicate with staff, contractors, and clients to effectively lead progress, project, safety, and scheduling during construction.Monitor Contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness and effectiveness.Generate project correspondence, including responses to Contractor inquiries, in a timely manner to avoid delay, to convey Owner's position, and to protect the Owner's interests.Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors' RFI's and review of shop drawings.Collaborate amongst client, contractor(s), design engineers, and third-party stakeholders in addressing priority issues to successfully progress construction projects to completion.Collaborate with a local project delivery team and national team of technical experts, including Quality Managers, Project Controls Professionals, Safety Professionals, Technical Leads, and Inspection staff.Mentor, supervise and provide direction for less experienced staff.Review design and bidding documents for completeness, constructability and biddability.Perform, as required, construction administration; schedule analyses; change order development, negotiation, and processing; lead and/or assist start-up and commissioning efforts.Lead development of construction management pursuits and proposals, guiding pursuit team on vision, approach, teaming, staffing, and pricing.Design civil projects that may include water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, roads, bridges, utility/miscellaneous infrastructure improvement designs, etc.Develop and complete applications, permits, engineering reports and specificationsPrepare and review engineer estimatesPrepare design cost estimatesConduct research and development for projectsMonitor task budget and progressPrepare project status and other reportsCommunicate project details with other design engineers Conduct project cost reviews Promote salesPrepare and review scope, budget, and schedule for project tasksAssist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentationsConduct on-site inspections as neededAttend and/or conduct client and project meetingsAttend various meetings including pre-design, plan review, pre-construction, professional organization, staff, etc.Attend seminars and/or training classesMaintain excellent client relationsMaintain a safe working environment Education:Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required Skills/Experience:10+ years of design experience requiredProfessional Engineer registration
