We are currently seeking a Program Director, Johns Hopkins Bayview Internal Medicine Residency Program. The program is nationally recognized for innovations in medical education and its commitment to developing community-oriented physician leaders, and we are looking for a clinician educator who will continue to advance its unique mission.
The Program Director must serve as a role model for professionalism and make mission-aligned decisions on behalf of the program, with the goal of preparing residents for practice and leadership in a variety of careers in internal medicine. They will lead the residency program administrative team in designing education innovations; mentoring, coaching, and advising residents; recruiting trainees to the program; serving as a liaison to Department of Medicine and Institutional leadership on education and service initiatives that impact the residency program; and ensuring that educational themes representing the breadth of internal medicine are consistently represented throughout the residency curriculum. Specifically, the core responsibilities of the Program Director include:
Maintaining a clinical learning environment that supports the needs of its learners.Developing, implementing, and assessing curricula for Bayview IM residents and off-service residents rotating on internal medicine rotations.Maintaining compliance with institutional requirements and ACGME accreditation.Overseeing clinical operations for the house staff inpatient services and longitudinal outpatient practice.Managing a team of Program Coordinators, Associate Program Directors, and Assistant Chiefs of Service.Recruiting residents who are future leaders in all aspects of internal medicine and its subspecialties.Representing the program nationally through participation in Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine.They will receive at least 50% salary support as the Program Director and will report directly to the Bayview Department of Medicine Director.
QualificationsCandidates must hold current ABIM certification in internal medicine, have at least three years of experience working with trainees as a faculty member, have ongoing clinical activity, and have an interest in designing and implementing innovations in medical education. Prior administrative or leadership experience in graduate medical education is recommended but not required. Applicants should be willing to be appointed for a minimum of three years provided that performance expectations are met.
