About the College The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a Program Manager position to support an awarded National Science Foundation ITEST (Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers) SEI grant centered on broadening and extending a transdisciplinary model to educate students and to train in-service teachers in transdisciplinary concepts that bridge biology and engineering. Specifically, the model is at the cutting edge of mutual inspiration between biology and engineering - the sensory guidance of behavior in biological organisms and autonomous robots. The program will include an in-school program for high school students and in-service secondary education teachers, summer program, and paid high school student summer internships. Job Overview Manage, design, develop, modify, and present programs. Essential Functions Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs. Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations. Implement policies and procedures. Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports. Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations. May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). Responsible for completing academic and administrative duties. These duties include, for example, coordinating activities with high schools and other stakeholders, supporting scheduling and organization of the programmatic activities, supporting student hiring and payments, and conducting other project-related duties as assigned. Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
