Established in 2006 by Wendy and Eric Schmidt, the Schmidt Family Foundation (TSFF) works to restore a balanced relationship between people and planet. Through our grantmaking and investments, we partner with communities around the world in working for renewable energy, resilient food systems, healthy oceans and the protection of human rights. We pursue our mission through three, innovative and thoughtful strategies:

The Schmidt Family Foundation is a private foundation with growing assets of over $2B and an impact investment portfolio of approximately $160M of AUM.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The 11th Hour Project is looking for a strategic, relationship-oriented, and values-aligned candidate to join the N² Program, reporting to the N² Program Director for The 11th Hour Project. The N² (nature + nurture) Program Manager supports organizations, initiatives and movements that enable access and support for youth to thrive through nature and nurture. When we support all young people, particularly those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, to lead and thrive through meaningful outdoor experiences we see new opportunities for broader social change. This program's impact intersects the fields of youth development and organizing, the environmental and outdoors movements, and other systems that affect youth's ability to thrive. The Program Manager will be one of the leads in grantmaking for the N² program. As this is a relatively new program, a high degree of flexibility, initiative and willingness to roll up one's sleeves in a dynamic, small-team environment are essential.
\n Key ResponsibilitiesShape and refine program strategy for a subset of specific priorities of the N² program in partnership with N2 teamIn collaboration with team members, identify potential opportunities for transformational change and develop grant recommendations to achieve program objectivesFoster a dynamic, collaborative environment with other members of the team and TSFF colleagues to achieve program goals as well as TSFF goals overallPresent grant strategy and recommendations to TSFF leadership, including the BoardSolicit, review and analyze grant proposalsPrepare and complete required grant documentationMaintain grant files, including contact management, evaluations and metrics reportingWork closely with grants administration and finance teams to ensure grants are processed in a timely, accurate and compliant mannerLead positive and productive partner and grantee partner relationships with a wide range of organizations and individualsManage and execute site visits to regions of geographical focusMaintain and share knowledge of current events in the assigned strategic area as it relates to programmatic outcomesBuild, maintain and expand upon an existing network of thought-partners and advisorsRepresent the Foundation at conferences and gatheringsActively participate in affinity groups, including panel moderation, webinar coordination and conference planningOther relevant special projects or initiatives that may develop at the foundation, including events, capacity building, and other grantee partner engagement Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamworkProven oral and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to actively participate in group meetingsHigh emotional intelligence and/or relationship-oriented skills such as critical thinking, conflict resolution and creative problem-solving skills to coordinate professionally with a number of diverse internal and external stakeholdersStrategic thinker who is able to analyze information and present original analysisFlexibility to work simultaneously on a wide range of projects and ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and meet deadlinesAbility to work both as a team member and individually, with a high level of self-motivation and positive attitudeExperience and comfort building trust and working collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds.Travel for site visits encouraged as much as needed and ableUnderstanding of systemic inequities, intersectionality and social and/or environmental justice issuesStrong project management skills with the ability to self-start and manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring attention to detail and deadlines and responsiveness to changing prioritiesCommitment to N² program vision Education and ExperienceAt least eight to ten years of significant, progressively responsible work experience and a strong network in fields relevant to N² which could include: philanthropy, environmental justice, youth development, non-profit, community organizing, etc.Demonstrated project management skillsComfort with managing a budgetProficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite programs and experience using an online database strongly preferredLived experience with and / or in Native American, BIPOC or rural communities a plusNon-profit experience and / or volunteering experience strongly preferred
